Johnny Mathis - Moon River - MATHIS, JOHNNY
Eighteen years ago, we sold our software firm. After a year of trying to retire, we discovered we owned 5 acres of bottom in Greenport Harbor, once New York’s oyster capital. Obtaining permits, we began growing oysters, taking them weekly into Manhattan. Through trial and error, advice from the Greenporters who remembered the past trade in oysters, and support from New York’s finest chefs, the Widow’s Hole Oyster has become one of the City’s favorites.
Our oysters are given the spa treatment, tended carefully by our entire family and brought to you the same day they are harvested. Enjoy a night out in New York and sample the results of a marriage of hard work and the taste of Greenport.
Hey Isabel, John Duff here. Blast from the past! Saw the magazine article about Mike, knew uou were married to a Mike who did CMOs at Intex and just kept digging. You look from the pics on your website as if you haven’t aged and are much more at peace than in our previous lives at JPM. And congrats on having two kids.
Drop a line if you have a chance
Good to hear from you. Isabel did the website. What are you doing, she wants to know
Good morning from sunny Alabama.
I was wondering if you ship your oysters out of state? My father in law and I love oysters.
I grew up in Bayport and was a clammer on the GSB for 15 years. I just read an article which mentioned your company and the struggles that oyster farmers are having because Covid-19. It got me to thinking how crappy the oysters are that we get down here. Nothing better than cold water shellfish.
I also liked your idea that consumers should eat bigger oysters. Since most people seem to roast oysters nowadays I think the bigger oyster is a good idea. Besides, unlike clams, large oysters aren’t as chewy when they’re big.
Please let me know if ship. I would buy a 100. I know that’s not a lot but it’s a start.
Sincerely, Mark Smith
Actually, we are from the Deep South. Northern oysters are better! Let me check on getting smaller boxes. Overnight to ALA is not cheap.
I wish you could ship to Indianapolis. I DO know how to schuck oysters!
Shipping is expensive; but, let me check about getting smaller boxes
Do you ship to Bergen County, NJ?
We do UPS in the try-state, very cost effective: $1/oyster plus roughly $20 in shipping
I would love to have some here In Misouri
Shipping to you is dear
How about shipping to Dallas Texas? Can you check please?
You are very warm down there. You might prefer waiting until Fall.
Do you ship to Massachusetts?
sure
